책소개
In modern society, we live up to the virtue of "speed." What does the table look like in a society that doing everything quickly and efficiently is a measure of success? Did we forget that eating is more than just an act to satisfy hunger, and is actually deeply connected to the essence of life? The book begins with these questions.
Slow food is commonly understood as simply "eating slowly," but its meaning is much broader and deeper. It embodies awe for the whole process, from seeds planted in the ground to budding, to growing in order of nature, and ultimately to our table. It encompasses the relationships and ethics inherent in choosing ingredients carefully, preparing them with dedication, and sharing meals together. Sometimes it's a phenomenon in a holistic life where a glass of wine and artistic inspiration is added to deepen the experience.
The book does not just explore slow food as a culinary trend, but from a phenomenological perspective. Phenomenology, a philosophy that explores the nature of experience, enables deep reflection on what we feel, how we perceive, and ultimately how we understand life and the world through the act of preparing and consuming food. It aims to discover the ontological implications inherent in every moment, from the potential of seeds to the joy of harvesting, the immersion of cooking, and the connection shared at the table.
